Refunds and cancellation

Last updated 18 August 2026

Draft — not yet reviewed

A first draft, written by the developer rather than a solicitor. The interaction between Stripe acting as merchant of record and UK and EU consumer cancellation rights is the part most worth having checked.

The short version

There is a 7-day free trial with no card, so you can find out whether SoloWork suits you before paying anything. If you pay and it turns out not to, email us and we will sort it out.

Cancelling

Cancel any time from your account page. The subscription runs to the end of the period you have paid for, then stops renewing. There is no cancellation fee and no notice period.

When it stops, the app goes read-only rather than dark. Everything opens, invoices still export, and nothing is deleted — your work is in a folder on your own machine, which we have no way to reach.

Refunds

Payment is handled by Stripe as merchant of record, so refunds are issued by Stripe. In practice: email us and we will arrange it. Stripe can also issue a refund directly within 60 days of purchase.

We will refund without argument if:

  • You were charged after cancelling.
  • You were charged twice.
  • The software does not do what this website says it does, and we cannot fix it.

Outside those, a part-used month is not usually refunded — the trial exists so that decision can be made before any money changes hands.

Your statutory rights

Consumers in the UK and EU normally have 14 days to cancel a distance purchase. For digital content supplied immediately, that right can be waived — and Stripe, as merchant of record, applies the appropriate cooling-off rules at checkout on our behalf.

None of this affects your statutory rights. If the software is not of satisfactory quality or not as described, those rights apply regardless of anything written here.

Chargebacks

If you dispute a charge with your bank rather than contacting us, the licence is withdrawn while the dispute is open. The app returns to its sign-in screen — and your files stay exactly where they are, on your disk. Emailing us first is faster for everyone.
